The cookies this site sets, which of them need your permission, and how to change your mind.
This site uses Google Analytics to see how it is used, and only if you agree. The other things it stores only make the site work as you asked, and none of them is used to track you.
Analytics, only with your permission
The first time you visit, a small box asks whether we may use Google Analytics. Until you say yes, nothing of Google's is loaded and no analytics cookie is set. If you decline, the site works exactly the same.
If you agree, Google Analytics sets these cookies:

We use what they tell us (which pages are read, how people arrive, which device and country they come from) to improve the site, and for nothing else. We do not use it for advertising. Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, which acts on our behalf; the privacy notice says more about it.
You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your agreement, the site stops measuring and deletes the Google Analytics cookies it set. The legal basis is your consent (regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and Article 6(1)(a) of the UK and EU GDPR).

These are set without asking, because they only remember a choice you made. They never leave this site.

Other things it stores
While you have the site open, your browser also keeps one small note in its session storage. Session storage belongs to the tab: it is never sent to us or to anyone else, and your browser deletes it as soon as you close the tab.
